You may be understandably cautious about engaging in counselling but you can be assured of a professional, confidential and sensitive service that will support and guide you during a process of personal growth and change.

What is counselling?

Counselling is a form of therapy that enables the client to explore debilitating and destructive life-patterns in a gentle, empathic and non-judgemental way.

Therapy takes place in a highly structured and secure framework ‘held’ in the relationship between therapist and client. At Hopesprings our counsellors are trained in a variety of approaches including behavioural, analytical and humanistic.

Counselling offers an opportunity to examine patterns of behaviour, family and other significant relationships from our past. Whatever your difficulty, counselling can support you during the process of change and leave you better equipped for the future.

The environment is a secure one. Everything that passes between the client and the therapist is confidential. The client is at all times encouraged to dictate the pace at which the therapy proceeds.  The skilled therapist facilitates a gentle, restorative and healing relationship that paves the way for the client to embark on a journey of self-discovery that can provide a path to recovery and fulfilment.

People who seek counselling often feel distressed, confused, unhappy or depressed. Counselling is a healing therapy that can eliminate stress from our lives and provide the basis for growth and change.

Does it Work?
Research shows that as an answer to emotional and life-problems such as depression, stress, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, bereavement, relationship problems, isolation and many other difficulties that compromise our ability to function, counselling is an effective alternative to medication.

Medical and general practitioners are generally agreed that counselling is an effective and realistic option for everyone. This is borne out by the ever increasing number of referrals to counselling by G.P’s.
